From our
Visitors.................
|
|
Over the years we have been delighted
to welcome many visitors who enjoy painting - and some have even given us
paintings of Le Moulin Verneau. This was painted in September 2008 by
Alec Pearson
the well known North Yorkshire Artist.
Alec was also the Resident Artist for the magazine
'Northern Life' and in the
December/January 09 edition of this magazine there was a three page
'French Sketch Book' which included drawings of Paris, Tours, Saumur,
Amboise, Chenonceau, Fontevraud - and Parçay-les-Pins!
When Alec died, in October 2009,
we lost a great artist and good friend..

And a selection of comments from last
season.........
There is a 'Comments Book' in each gite and
we hope that our visitors will volunteer to share their experiences and pass on
recommendations.
The Chateau of Ussé is
wonderful for little girls, with 6 rooms of 'Sleeping Beauty'
up the spiral stone staircases.....
The
gîte is our best ever - & we especially like the
lovely swimming pool.
Gillian and Mike, May/June 2011, Les Passereaux
Chateaux galore! Visited
Villandry, Langeais and Montsoreau, would recommend all three.

Warm welcome, splendid
gîte, superb pool - what
more could one ask? Well - the Chemin du Rose at Doué, Amboise, Chinon,
the walks around Le Moulin - birds, butterflies.
Peter and Nancy, July 2011, Les Rouges-queues
We recommend
Chateau de Brézé, Chateau Langeais (do take lunch at restaurant in front
of the church just away from all the tourists) and Fontevraud Abbey (... the
audio is also available in Dutch and the children loved it)

Hans, Anne and Emma, July 2011, Les Chardonnerets
We swam every day -
even on the day it rained! Loved the white lions at La Fleche Zoo. We also
played petanque.

Younger artists have also been inspired by the surroundings.
We previo usly
displayed a painting by Laura from July 2008.
In July 2011 she returned with her family and gave us this picture of the view
across the fields. Thank you, Laura.

So many things to do and see
that we will need to come back a few more times to get a fuller taste of this
lovely part of the Loire. Recommend restaurants: Bistrot de la Place and Crystal
Hotel in Saumur.

Great base to explore or just
relax by the pool! Ussé was lovely and the girls loved the sleeping beauty
tower. The roads around are quiet so bikes are a good idea.

I arrived tired and alone.... I
left revived and accompanied .... by a camera and mind full of beautiful
memories. I will return.

Thank you, Sue and Donald
for a very cosy
gîte
and for your help and
kindness.
